This artwork was taken from the art of Jazz curriculum which our learners always
do around the time of the Cape Town jazz festival. The Learners learned
to do woodcuts an old technique originally used for book making. This particular piece was made by Olwethu who joined Lalela in 2011 and remained with us until he graduated in 2017. Olwethu is very creative and has a passion for art. He is also a professional boxer and fights for his local boxing club.
By linking the arts to academics and life-skills, Lalela provides students with the tools necessary to re-imagine the future and achieve their dreams. With your purchase of this pocket square you help make these dreams come true.
