This artwork was created by Lihle and the accompanying spoken word was written by Genevieve. Lihle (17) has a passion for poetry and entertaining people. She wants to become a fashion designer because she believes there are more African authentic styles still to be explored and shared with the world. She has a particular color combination that gets her going and inspired which is red and black in various combinations and hues.
Genevieve Miennaar started at Lalela in 2011 when she was just 9 years old. She was in grade ten when she wrote this spoken word and was also part of the Lalela leadership programme. Genevieve has a quiet strength and always contributed meaningfully in the Lalela classroom. When she finishes school, Genevieve would like to pursue a career that gives back to her community.
